RARE 17th century small-format Latin Bible, printed in France. The Bible follows the standard Vulgate translation, and features a frontispiece and a preface for teachers. Contains: `Hieronymi Prologus Galeatus`, `Index Epistolarum et Evangeliorum`, `Index Biblicus`. 180X115mm. 947 [+8] pages. Brown leather hardcover with gilt decoration on spine and edges. Cover stiff. Cover somewhat worn. Cover corners bumped, rear cover bottom corner tattered. Spine front hinge upper edge partly cracked. Endpapers dirty. Pen inscriptions on rear whitepage, title page and parallel to title page. Pages 1-8 water-stained (text clearly readable). First whitepage edges tattered, 10 first pages upper corner and upper edge slightly tattered, few page edges slightly rough. First whitepage and title-page stained. Pages yellowing/browning, some pages slightly age-stained. Some page edges slightly stained (no damage to text). Few pages slightly dog-eared. [SUMMARY]: This 300 year old Catholic Bible is otherwise in good condition for its age.
