Welcome to the SFDebris Unofficial YouTube Archive!
This website is acting as a repository for the SciFiDebris reviews pulled off YouTube on May 12, 2011. All files are available for download here.

The Unofficial SFDebris YouTube Archive is a collection of (almost) all Star Trek Video Reviews made by SFDebris prior to Nov 24, 2010. All available videos are here for direct download at reasonably-high speed.
All videos are presented in Xvid AVI format, and are roughly between 10MB and 80MB in size, depending on length.
These videos exist thanks to the effort of DaSilva from the Confused Matthew forums, who has brilliantly ripped these videos off YouTube prior to their removal. Our thanks go to you for saving this grand collection.
The Story So Far
On May 12, 2011, the American network CBS sent a warning to YouTube regarding the DS9 "Trials and Tribulations" Review posted by SFDebris a few weeks earlier. This appears to have been part of a crack-down on Star Trek reviewers on YouTube, in preparation for CBS's re-release of Star Trek episodes on a paying website.
Due to a similar issue that occured several years ago when the BBC pulled SFDebris' Red Dwarf videos off YouTube, this move by CBS counted as a "second strike" against SFDebris (with YouTube allowing up to 3 strikes, followed by the complete shut-down of an entire channel!). Concerned about losing his channel entirely, SFDebris proceeded to remove all of his reviews from YouTube.
By this time, SFDebris had begun posting his videos on Blip.tv, where conditions are much more protective of content providers, allowing him to continue posting without fear, and also to work outside YouTube video size/length restrictions that were previously troublesome. SFDebris continues his work on Blip, posting new videos every weekend and "refurbishing" his older videos for better quality and style there.
Unfortunately, until such time that SFDebris completes the process of updating over 100 videos for Blip distribution, many of the older reviews are simply missing, nowhere to be found.
Making the Videos Public
Thankfully, one subscriber calling himself DaSilva had already done the work of ripping all 188 SFDebris reviews off YouTube, up to and including the Blip.tv channel announcement on Nov 25, 2010. These videos were ripped in MP4 and FLV format.
DaSilva proceeded to upload these videos to a FileSonic account, where they can be downloaded by anybody. However, this is not without caveats:
- The entire set of videos is over 8.7 GB in size, and is comprised of 188 separate files.
- FileSonic places an arbitrary limit on download speed, usually around 80 KBps.
- FileSonic mandates a 15-minute waiting period between file downloads.
As a result, anyone hoping to download these videos for personal viewing is bound to spend days, if not weeks, acquiring the entire set.
Therefore, this website (and hopefully in the future, many others) was set up. With the files painstakingly downloaded from FileSonic, they were each converted into Xvid AVI format - a compatible format viewable on virtually all machines - and posted here on a fast server with direct downloads enabled.
Using This Website
On this website, the videos are listed based on user preference. You can view a list of all videos, view videos from a particular series or subject, and even arrange the videos by production order rather than the order in which SFDebris made them.
To download a file, click the link that appears next to its name.
PLEASE NOTE: This server is not dedicated to the video downloads. The website is hosted here courtesy of the Book Gallery, and requires at least some bandwidth (but not much) for its day-to-day operations. Therefore, please download only one video at a time. If you feel the server is a little congested, please wait a while before continuing your downloads.
Also, please save these files to your computer, so that you do not need to re-download them to watch the same review later. Eventually, this site will be removed once the videos find a better home on a faster server. Until then, please treat this server with respect.
Missing Videos?!
As you browse the videos posted here, you'll probably notice that some videos are not available for download. These are videos that have been re-done and posted on SFDebris' Blip.tv channel. There is little reason to make these videos available since they can be viewed at any time on Blip. The links for these videos will take you directly to the appropriate posting on Blip.tv, where you can watch the video as a stream.
Over time, more and more videos will be removed from this website as the new versions are posted to Blip.tv.
For those of you who insist on watching the older versions (which are occasionally slightly different from the new ones), please visit DaSilva's SFDebris Review Collection over on FileSonic, where these videos are available.
Credit where Credit's Due
All credit should obvious go to SFDebris for making these fantastic reviews, and to DaSilva for the hard work no-doubt involved with ripping these videos off YouTube (not to mention the initiative he took in ripping them at all - since no one else seemed to do so).
