Endpapers browning. Pencil markings on rear endpapers. Pages slightly yellowing but otherwise clean! [VOL.1]: "Fantine" I+II. Signed by previous owner on pre-title page. A few pages are lightly age-stained (no damage to text!). Page 23/24 of part II detached but present. Rear end-paper water-stained. [VOL.2]: "Cosette" I+II. Top spine edge lightly tattered. Includes publisher`s advertisements at end of book. [VOL.3]: "Marius" I+II. Top cover corner peeled off. Top spine edge quite worn. Stamp on whitepage. Includes publisher`s advertisements at end of book. Ex-libris sticker also on rear endpaper. [VOL.4]: "l`Idylle Rue Plumet et l`Épopée Rue Saint-Denis" I+II. Cover and spine in somewhat better condition than other volumes. [VOL.5]: "Jean Valjean" I+II. Front cover upper layer almost entirely worn out. Front hinge quite worn and peeling. Spine edges tattered. Long piece of paper taped inside front and rear covers (one piece each). [VOLS.2,3&]: Embossed title on spine.[SUMMARY]: All five books have been externally worn to various degrees, but inside they are tightly bound and the pages show virtually no signs of aging or misuse. This rare edition of Hugo`s masterpiece is in good condition. We have reduced this set`s price due to all external damage accumulated.
