RARE LIMITED EDITION of 1500 COPIES - COPY No.189. The panel paintings of The Sleeping Beauty by Léon Bakst were commissioned by James de Rothschild in 1913. The work was completed in 1923 and adorned the walls of 34 Park Street in London and after 1930 at 23 St James`s Place, purchased by a Rothschild Family Trust in 1990. Since 1995 the paintings are on loan at The Rothschild Collection (Rothschild Family Trust) at Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire. 310x230mm. 128 pages. Dedication written in pen on front whitepage. This extremely rare album of works by an eminent Russian painter and scene- and costume designer is otherwise in very good condition.
