RARE first edition of Parfit`s book which describes his journey through southern Lebanon in a highly narrative form. Parfit was a missionary in Baghdad and later a Chaplain in Beirut; His journey among the Druze during World War I includes descriptions of the locals, the geography and wildlife, as well as the progress of the war in the Middle East. Accompanied by multiple (unattributed) photographs of the people and lands of southern Lebanon. 190x130mm. VIII+252 pp. Green cloth hardcover with (slightly faded) gilt lettering on spine. Cover edges, spine edges and hinges slightly worn. Pencil markings and ex-libris sticker on inner front cover. Endpapers browned. Few pages and photographs mildly age-stained, otherwise clean. [SUMMARY]: This unique and personal description of Lebanon during the first World War is in good condition.
