RARE book by the eminent English barrister and author John Bowles (1751-1819). Well-known is Edmund Burke`s praise of Bowles` pamphlets against peace with France in a letter from March 1796. Second edition, containing a supplement in which the author continues his report until the month of June, 1801. 141x212mm. 174+91+31 pages. Green quarter-leather Hardcover. Gilt lettering on spine, gilt decorations on cover and spine. Cover with decorative crosshatch texture. Marbled endpapers. Includes book mark. Cover rubbed, slightly curved and slightly stained. Cover corners slightly peeling. Spine and spine hinges rubbed and slightly wrinkled. Spine edges rubbed; bottom edge slightly peeling. Page edges lightly stained and mildly yellowing. Top page edges slightly browning. Rear endpapers slightly stained. Ex-libris sticker on front inner cover upper corner. Most pages slightly age stained. Few pages rough-cut as published. Pages slightly yellowing and slightly wavy. [SUMMARY]: This rare work in a nice design. The book is in considerably good condition for its age.
