VERY RARE FIRST EDITION copy of the early work by Jewish literary critic and scientific scholar Zunz - his research into synagogue sermons and their development throughout history. 195x125mm, XV+481 pp. REBOUND red half-leather marbled hardcover with rounded corners and gilded lettering on spine. [CONDITION:] Spine lightly faded. Cover board sections mildly worn. Pencil and pen inscriptions on inner front cover, title-page, and rear end-paper. Stamp on front end-paper. All pages lightly age-stained; More-so near front and back. Title-page and a few other pages slightly dog-eared. Rebinder has sliced the margins off all pages of the book, incidentally cutting the page numbers off the top of many pages - but with NO DAMAGE TO THE TEXT! [SUMMARY:] Despite the age-related and rebinding-related damage expected for an old copy, it is overall in good reading condition.
