EXTREMELY RARE pre-war Jewish children`s book printed in 1930 Vienna. The book consists of several short stories written by Abeles, a Jewish educator who promoted the development and use of Hebrew and Yiddish braille script, and later contributed to efforts of evacuating Jews from the Third Reich. He committed suicide in 1937 when he ran out of money to assist in those efforts. The stories are interspersed with illustrations by Henny Friedek. [ATTRIBUTES:] 215x150mm, 142pp. Tan board hardcover with illustration on front. [CONDITION:] Spine bottom half missing, rest of spine peeling but still attached to front cover. Corners bumped. Humidity stain on front cover bottom edge. Pen markings by previous owner (dated 1931) on front whitepage. Occasional age-stains on most pages, otherwise clean. All pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY:] This extremely rare children`s book has suffered some external damage, but is overall in good condition for its age.
