RARE biographical novel depicting the life of Hernando del Pulgar Garcia Osorio (1451-1531) - a Castilian military commander from Ciudad Real, who excelled during the Granada War, earning the favor of Queen Isabella I of Castile, and gaining great fame throughout the kingdom. Includes a frontispiece of Pulgar. 120x181mm. VIII+323 pages. Brown marbled Hardcover with gilt decoration on spine and gilt lettering on spine label. Page edges and endpapers marbled. Cover, cover edges and spine rubbed and somewhat worn. Spine edges and hinges peeling. Spine worn. Wormhole on spine rear hinge bottom edge, which also affects the last twenty pages (but does not touch the text at all!). Ex-libris sticker on front inner cover. Previous owner`s name written on title-page. Binding visible between front whitepage and frontispiece. Page edges slightly stained. Several pages slightly age stained, and/or dog eared. Pages slightly yellowing and wavy. [SUMMARY]: This rare first edition is in good condition for its age.
