RARE compilation of all 1861 issues of the "Jüdisches Volksblatt" (8th Jahrgang), a weekly German-Jewish periodical edited by Ludwig Philippson, an eminent 19th-century German rabbi and writer on Jewish themes, renowned for his translation of the Old Testament. One of his main aims in publishing the `Jüdisches Volksblatt` was the emancipation of his Jewish fellow men, while at the same time to entertain and tighten the Jewish population to its culture. Text in Gothic lettering (Fraktur). 275x220mm. 208 pages. Rebound brown quarter cloth Hardcover with marbled boards. Cover slightly scratched and faded. Cover edges and corners bumped and peeling.
