This set is the first edition of the French translation of books 1-8 published in English in 1777. Volumes 2 and 4 include two fold-out maps of the region discussed in the set. Brown quarter-leather Hardcover with gilt lettering on spine. Decorated endpapers. Cover corners very lightly bumped. Ex libris on inner front cover. Pages very lightly yellowing. [VOLS.1,2&4]: Small hole on rear cover bottom corner. [VOL.2]: Rear cover corners peeling. [VOLS.2&3]: Front cover slightly (3cm) detached from spine at bottom hinge. [VOL.3]: Pages 489 to 492 detached from binding. [VOL.4]: Last 120 pages mildly wavy. [SUMMARY]: Despite the above mentioned light damage to covers, this rare set is in good condition.
