FIRST EDITION of a relatively unknown theater play written by the famous founder of political Zionism - Theodor Herzl (1860-1904). First staged in 1899 by the "Deutsches Volkstheater" in Vienna, the play got friendly reception. This book is marked with the label "printed as manuscript" ("Als Manuskript gedruckt"), making this edition even more rare. This was probably the only edition of the play ever printed. 200x140mm. 92 pages. Blue quarter-cloth Hardcover with brown foil dust-jacket. Jacket tattered. Cover corners and corners, and spine edges rubbed. Rear cover bottom corner peeling. Title page missing its upper left corner - NO damage to text, but fixed with white paper and tape. Page 3 upper corner taped - no damage to text. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare dramatic work by the great Zionist thinker is otherwise in good condition.
