This book in 6 parts on the Mosaic law is written by Johann David Michaelis (1717-1791) - the renowned German biblical scholar and teacher at Halle and Göttingen universities. Michaelis represents the link between Pietism and the beginnings of rationalism in Biblical theology, while he himself advocated, somewhat inconsistently, a moderately rationalistic orthodoxy. In "Mosaisches Recht" he interpreted the laws of the Pentateuch as the work of the statesmanlike wisdom of Moses, whose aim was the separation of Israel from the heathens. [BOTH VOLUMES]: 180x110mm.
