The section dealing with modern Hebrew is of interest to those interested in the works of the Jewish enlightenment (Haskalah) movement, as it contains pieces by writers such as Luzzatto, Rapoport, Mendelssohn, Friedländer, Reggio and numerous others. Contains notes in German and a Hebrew-German dictionary. 220x130mm. XVI+404 pages. Marbled board Hardcover. Embossed lettering on spine. Page edges dyed. Cover worn and bumped. Cover edges and corners bumped. Sticker with pen inscription on spine. Spine worn and bumped, mainly on edges. Ex library stamp on whitepage and several other pages throughout the book. Pages yellowing, with few faint stains. Page 243 wrinkled. This rare reader of ancient and modern Hebrew texts is otherwise in good condition.
